Welcome to the website for the State College Celiac Support Group! Located in State College, Pennsylvania.

Do you have Celiac Disease or Gluten Intolerance? This group meets bi monthly in support of those in our area who are celiac or have gluten intolerance. You are invited to attend.

Family and friends are welcome as well. Meet other local people who have Celiac Disease or Gluten Intolerance to share information, recipes, and the best ways to avoid social restrictions due to your wheat and gluten free diet.

What is Celiac Disease?
Celiac Disease (CD) is a lifelong, digestive disorder affecting children and adults. When people with CD eat foods that contain gluten, it creates an immune-mediated toxic reaction that causes damage to the small intestine and does not allow food to be properly absorbed. Even small amounts of gluten in foods can affect those with CD and cause health problems. Damage can occur to the small bowel even when there are no symptoms present.

The State College Celiac Support Group is Chapter #148 of the Celiac Sprue Association.


State College Celiac Support Group Mission Statement

The mission of the State College Celiac Support Group is to make a positive
difference in the lives of those living with Celiac Disease or Gluten
Intolerance by providing support, education and opportunities to interact with
fellow celiacs. We will encourage both the newly diagnosed and veteran members
to have strict adherence to a gluten-free diet to promote a healthy and happy
life. We are "Celiacs Helping Celiacs".


We will support the Celiac Sprue Association in its mission to create public
awareness of Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance, and to provide the medical
community with a greater understanding of the needs of Celiac Patients.
